As long as the light intensity does not interfere with your night time vision by being too bright & reflecting on the window glass it is perfectly ok. 'Mood lighting '- usually red- is fitted in many large European trucks & adds to the ambient light from the normal dash display. If the light source is visible from the outside you may run into some problems from the local plod - but you are only young once ( I think I can remember that far back! )
