Car Perfume Bottle
Car Perfume bottle
Can heat ruin perfume?
I went to a wedding recently and brought a bottle of perfume in the car so that I could freshen up before the reception. It was a really hot day and, being left in the car, the bottle heated up and was quite hot. Could this have changed the way the perfume smells, or does heat have no effect on fragrance?
Oh no...yes it does ruin perfume. Perfumers actually say to keep unused perfume in a cool and dry place, inside the box. Most people of course never do that...You should keep it out of sunlight, heat, and the bathroom because the temperature changes there with all the humidity. It also depends on what kind of perfume it is...a cologne or eau de toilette will ruin first. Most perfumes with alot of citrus will sour first, but if you have a floral or oriental perfume it may hold up with just one time in the heat. The heat will cook a perfume, and they are expensive....If it starts to smell different and is a new bottle, you might be able to exchange it if you have the receipt and box with a UPC barcode.
