Will dual Weber Carbs increase performance on a stock 1600 duall port engine?

I plan to increase displacement to a 1776 later this summer, but my first buy is gonna be Dual weber carbs, they look cool! My question however is, will my car run about the same now, or will it help a little, or will it cause problems? And does weber carbs have a distinct sound to them, if they do why? Thanks

If you are going to put a carb on a 1776....you might want to go with a progressive carb.I cant remember exactly who makes them (probably weber or solex). Its like a 2 barrel carb that works on one jet until you hit about 50 mph then the other on kicks on,for more acceleration. But if you want the motor to run better and stronger,you could up the ccs to 1885-1915 with a hotter cam and better valves,heads...ect As for does the carb have a distinct sound?...I don't think they do,but I haven heard them all,they may...but its most likely the sound of the muffler,the original pipes have a whistle to them... If you are trying to get better gas mpgs then get a "Freeway flier" transmission and have your mechanic tune the carb for mileage not performance
