Front Stainless Steel
How can you clean stainless steel?
I have several stainless steel fronted items in my kitchen and cannot find a satisfactory method of cleaning them. Even a cleaner which is purported to be only for that purpose is useless and leaves everything streaky.
Miss Skittles. Do you mix the olive oil and vinegar and which vinegar?
There are several ways to clean stainless. I have a mix of stainless and black appliances and all I use is clean, hot, soapy dish water and a microfiber cloth. The microfiber cloth is the key. They wipe/clean so much more thoroughly than any sponge, dish cloth or paper towel! I get mine at Sam's Club and use them for nearly everything! The ones at Walmart stink unless you get the ones in the automotive section. The cloths in the home section are way too thin and flimsy.
If you have stains or grease build up then a dose of Barkeeper's Friend will take care of the issue. Barkeeper's is wonderful on any metal. It's a powdered cleanser similar to scouring powder but not nearly as abrasive. Dampen the area, give it a sprinkle, smear the cleaner around with a sponge and let it sit for 5-10 minutes to work. Then come back and scrub with your sponge. Use a wet microfiber cloth to wipe up the Barkeepers or you will have streaks! And Barkeeper's is cheap! I use it on all my stainless steel cookware, metals that need polished and to remove nasty spots on my ceramic cook top.
A mixture of 1/2 rubbing alcohol and 1/2 window cleaner (cheap stuff is fine) in a spray bottle works well. It also is a disinfectant because of the alcohol. Spray and wipe immediately with a paper towel or a clean microfiber cloth.
Although I use white vinegar for a lot of things, I haven't gotten good results with it on the stainless. If you have a steam generating cleaner, they work well when paired with a microfiber cloth. I have one but for daily wipe ups, I just use the hot dish water and the microfiber cloth. It's fast and it works.
