Subaru Impreza (wagon model), 2007 & 2008 models --- are they actually built in Japan ?

Does anyone know for sure if the 2007 and/or 2008 year model of Subaru Impreza (Wagon model) is made in Japan?
When looking to buy a car, I am always looking looking at the VIN number on the top of the dashboard (or inside the front windshield) of the model I'm looking at. The first letter (or number) of the VIN will tell you what country the car was assembled in. If it starts with the letter "J", it means it was built in Japan, etc.
Most folks realize that many foreign car makers build some of their Car Models both here and some also in their country. I have even seen the same model of car, one being built here (U.S.) and another in Japan. So the only true way to know (besides reading the invoice sticker), is to look at the VIN number.
So without having gone to a Subaru car lot yet, does anyone know for sure if the Impreza (Wagon) is built in Japan ?

yes the are but i would not recommend getting one subaru have a lot of flaws with there cars about 15-20 years ago there brake pads would fall out of the houseing and u would be left driveing with nor breaks
