MOPAR 440 engine help please?
so i understand what the 4-bbl and six pack are but what is a super commando and how does it differ from magnum six pack. i dont really dont know much about cars but have always wanted a challenger or charger. im 19 now and finally have the money to get a car. i think i am going to go the Plymouth versions though. my friend has a roadrunner he can give me for a good price. he put a 360 magnum in it from a dakota 1993. i want to change it for a 440, but dont know what a super commando is. is it better than sixpack? thanks for help
so carb > supercommando
You don't give the year of the Roadrunner but they came from the factory with the "Commando 383" engine.
The "Commando" engine was the 383 four barrel, the "Super Commando" was the 440 four barrel, the "440 6-barrel" was the 440 engine with 3-2 barrel carburetors. The 440 six barrel engine was also commonly called a Super Commando.
Dodge performance engines, 383, 440, and 440 three two barrels were all called "Magnum" engines. There was also a 383 four barrel engine in the Dodge line that was not a performance engine, not sure if Plymouth had the non-performance 383 four barrel.
