What is best material for polished aluminum Underdrive pulleys ... or block of steel??

and why?

I would safely go with aluminum, lighter and less heat conduction, so the usual roast bearings in difficult conditions .. steel is more conductive heat heavy and burning their orientation in time and would not recommended.
