Why do sports cars sit so close to the ground?
I have noticed that sports cars sit really close to the ground. I know very little about aerodynamics / cars in general ... does being closer to the ground make them drive faster? Thanks!
The lower the car, the lower it's centre of gravity becomes.
This obviously reduces the chance of tipping over on corners, but more importantly it reduces body roll and minimises unwanted weight transfer between wheels, thus improving the handling and roadholding.
