How do I remove the converter housing with the trans in a 99 Mazda B3000?
I need to remove the converter housing to access the back of the input shaft to see if I can put the gear that the converter fits into in back of the seal. I am unable to get the converter to drop into this gear to give the necessary clearance to put the engine back into the truck.
If the truck is a stick shift, the trans will separate from the convertor housing.You need to drop the drive shaft/s (if 4WD) crossmember and then the trans. If automatic you need to do the same.The housing is part of the trans.It does not separate.But you will be able to get to the shaft.
