Water Pump Core
Water Pump Core
What is the problem.. when car is sitting running it doesnt over heat but when it starts driving it over heat?
I am thinking its one of three things water pump, heater core or thermostat which do you think it could be. This is a for a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am GT.
I think you mean "radiator" and not "heater core" because the heater core is under the dash and shouldn't affect engine overheating. I agree that the radiator could be plugged up if you've got GM Dexcool in the cooling system that's never been changed. Also I agree the water pump blades could be eaten away by the corrosion in the cooling system. Finally, you can easily change the thermostat or temporarily take it out entirely while your flushing all the gunk out of the system.
