Wire Spoke Hubcap
Wire Spoke Hubcap
i have a question about hubcaps?
i have those wire spoke hubcaps on my car and they make a racket, i know its them, because i took them off and the noise quit, so is there any way to fix them, so they wont rattle, besides throwing them over the hill. my car looks better with them on, but i cant stand the noise. what do you think it would look like just paint the wheels black and use chrome lug nuts? thanks.
You could try tightening the metal around the spokes. Find the ones that are loose and look to see how the spoke attaches to the outer rim section of the hubcap. If it's a rivet head looking piece you can sometimes use a metal punch and a hammer to tighten the rivet. Or bend the metal around the hole that the spoke goes through to tighten it up (try to do everything from the backside of the hub cap so you don't mar the outer surface). You might also get away with putting some silicone sealant on the part that wobbles (essentially gluing the spoke to the rim) and let it dry before putting back on the car. Clean the surface well and use it sparingly and evenly.
